Corporate Social Responsibility
An active role in a variety of local, regional and national organisations and charities
As well as supporting communities by encouraging local employment and careers, using local facilities and, where appropriate, purchasing local goods and services, all BBA Aviation businesses - through employees and on a more formal basis - play an active role in a variety of local, regional and national organisations and charities.
Charities and community projects are typically identified on a site by site basis, the majority representing areas of interest for individuals and groups of employees or ones that are local to the site or relevant to BBA Aviation’s business activities. All employees are encouraged to participate
In 2010 we launched our Community Involvement and Charitable Giving Framework and charitable giving programme to complement and enhance the community and charitable activities of our operating businesses.
The Community Involvement and Charitable Giving Framework sets out a structured approach for both BBA Aviation plc and its operating companies in relation to community involvement and charitable giving (whether of time, money or other benefits) and gives priority to requests that benefit charities and not for profit organisations in our local communities. Under the BBA Aviation charitable giving programme employees or sites can, on behalf of a charity or not for profit organisation, apply to the BBA Aviation Charitable Giving Committee for a donation. Priority will, again, be given to charities and not for profit organisations with a strong local connection to our sites and/or organisations connected with aviation, engineering or education.
This new, structured approach, is intended to lend strength and scale to the efforts already made by our businesses and sites at a local level and make a real and sustainable difference to initiatives within our industry and to the communities in which our employees live and work.
To date, H+S have supported three local charities with employees giving their time, and the company supporting them with materials and availability. The projects have enhanced the charities ability to serve the local communities in Cowplain, Havant and Portsmouth. The company also makes charitable donations to national and local charities and supports employees with additional donations to their own personal charity efforts such as Blue Day and the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.
